The Many Uses of Lestoil

There are numerous uses for Lestoil.  Lestoil is made by the Clorox Corporation and is a heavy duty solvent and cleaning agent. It is most often used to clean stains from fabrics in the laundry and to remove greasy stains from hard surfaces. Anyone who has used Lestoil knows that it is a miracle cleaner that it can remove the toughest stains. Most people use Lestoil for laundry stain removal. All you need to do is put the Lestoil directly onto the stain and let it sit for around 30 minutes. For really heavy set in stains, you can let it sit on the fabric overnight. Don’t be alarmed by Lestoil’s strong pine scent as it will be removed as soon as the fabric is washed.  It is always a good idea to test a small area of your fabric for color fastness.  You can also directly add it to a load of laundry that is heavily soiled.

Lestoil can also be used to clean hard surfaces like cabinets, walls, and linoleum floors. It is very concentrated so it is best to dilute it with water when cleaning hard surfaces.  You can do this by mixing one gallon warm water and one cup of Lestoil.  There are many other uses for Lestoil around the house, especially in the garage. You can clean paintbrushes easily or even remove oil stains from concrete driveways or garage floors. Anywhere there is a greasy stain Lestoil is an ideal cleaner.

There are many other jobs around the house like removing sticky residues or removing gum from carpets, these are all great uses for Lestoil. Just place a small amount of Lestoil onto a terry cloth rag and rub the stickiness away.  Lestoil is a heavy solvent and can damage unfinished wood by discoloring it or by penetrating it porous surface with its strong pine scent.  Always use caution when using such a strong cleaner by testing a small area of your desired cleaning surface.
