A Junior Bed is Ideal for Your Youngster

Every baby eventually outgrows his or her crib.  This does not necessarily mean (s)he is ready for a full-sized bed.  There are some important reasons why a junior bed is ideal for your toddler.

Its height is one of its most relevant points.  As a junior bed is much closer to the floor than full-sized beds, your youngster will be safer.  Whether (s)he moves around while sleeping, or is simply an active child, you will not have the concern of him/her tumbling out of bed and getting hurt.  The height also makes it more convenient for him. Getting in and out of the bed is easier for him/her to do when his/her bed is of a lower height.  For both safety and convenience, the child-appropriate height makes it a great choice.

These beds also include optional railings.  When first moving your toddler from the crib to his new junior bed, you would want to have the railings installed.  This will prevent your toddler from falling out of the bed during the night. As he grows a little older, and becomes more use to sleeping in his junior bed, you can easily remove the railings.  This feature makes it the perfect way for a youngster to make the transition from a crib to a regular bed.  It is up to you to decide when (s)he no longer needs the bed’s railings.  As they can be removed easily, simply take them off when the time has come.

Young children gain a wonderful sense of pride in their accomplishments.  When they know they have outgrown their baby cribs, it gives them a feeling of being grown-up.  Your son or daughter will immediately be delighted with his or her first “real” bed.  This pride may even encourage him to look forward to nap time and bedtime.  Instead of struggling to get a toddler to cooperate with a crib, you may be surprised at how excited he is to use his new, grown-up style junior bed.

Toddlers beds were very popular in generations past.  While it was often due to needing the toddler’s crib for a new baby, many parents found all of these other reasons to be equally valid.  There is something very special about giving children the first real bed of their very own.  Their current popularity means more convenience and safety for today’s toddlers, and peace of mind for today’s parents.  They also make an attractive addition to children’s bedrooms.  Another advantage of a junior bed is the fact that it is much smaller than a regular single bed, taking up much less space, giving your toddler lots of space in his bedroom to play.

Your toddler will surely love his junior bed and so will you.

A Few Small Additions Will Transform A Child’s Room

A suggestion on how to design a newborn’s room. Two years ago my wife and I had the great fortune of having a newborn’s room to design. We had a baby on the way and an empty room, our blank canvas, to convert. Many folks think about what color to pain the walls and stop there. I’m going to suggest a couple smallish additions that you can make that will turn an average baby’s room into a stunning room for your new family member. These suggestions won’t break the bank either.

We started by priming the walls and ripping out the old carpeting that was in the room. You may be like us and find that underneath twenty year old carpeting lies some very unused and beautiful wood floors. If they are in dire straights then consider putting down a floating floor laminate product. They are inexpensive and very easy to install. I’ve done two and they both look great. Let’s get to painting. We had a boy on the way so we choose a sky blue color. We did three walls in the blue but on the fourth wall added one foot wide white stripes. This gave it a circus, whimsical feel. Perfect for a youngster. Up along the ceiling we added some nice four inch cornice. These are now made out of a type of foam. Much easier and cheaper to install than the old wooden standards. Third step was adding a few ornate looking white stencils in the upper corners. These can be found at any art supply shop and only cost a couple dollars. Lastly we added a white bookcase to contrast the rich dark wood of the other furnishings and put up a couple cheap shelves.

There you have it, just a few minor alterations and you can inexpensively spruce up a room making it perfect for your little king.

Keeping the Family on Track – 3 Things Every Household With Children Should Have

Today’s parent is always on the go.  If you have children, cleaning up after them is just another chore that you find on your plate each day.  Whether you’ve been a parent for awhile or are new at it, there are a few essential household items that you should always make sure you have.  They make cleanup a little easier, giving you one less thing to worry about.  Because we all could use a break sometimes, here are three things every parent should make sure they have.

A Sturdy High Chair

There are a lot of heavy- duty high chairs available, but a wooden high chair is both sturdy and fashionable.  They compliment any kitchen décor and are highly efficient.

Wooden high chairs are easy to keep clean because you can usually just wipe them down if they get dirty, so they simplify your life a little by saving you some scrubbing time.  The only downfall is that they can be a little uncomfortable, so make sure that you get a wooden high chair pad or get a model that has a little padding so that your child is always comfortable.

A Potty Chair

Having a good potty chair is important to any household with kids.  A Bjorn Potty is a great investment.  They’re inexpensive and they are of utmost quality with features like high back support, armrests, a splashguard and lots of leg room.

Bjorn Potty training is easy because all of their chairs are so easy to clean. The bright colors and designs actually attract children, making them want to go.

The Right Bedding

When your child grows big enough to sleep in a double bed, it’s important to invest in a quality double duvet set so that he will stay warm and comfortable.

For those duvets that aren’t machine washable, such as down duvets, you can get duvet covers in a wide variety of designs.  Getting a couple of different colors will give the kids some variety, so they don’t get bored, and will make your life easy they’re so easy to wash and change.  We all know how messy children can be!

These items are not only practical, but they’re essential to any home with children. Pick up one or two. They’re purchases you won’t regret.

Maximize Marketability when Selling Your Home

If you are planning to sell your home, there might be some suggestions and tips that you would like to consider, given the fact that there are quite a few preparations that need to be done while getting your house ready to be shown to prospective buyers. One of the most effective things that can be done is to look at the house and try to visualize it as something that is neat, functional and also something which will be pleasing to the eye. Although this guide was written with Cincinnati real estate in mind, the ideas work regardless of your location.

There are some people who keep pets as they are avid pet lovers. But you must remember that not every home buyer may be a pet lover. This is why it makes immense sense to get pets out of the way and to ensure that all their feeding bowls or other pet accessories are kept well hidden when buyers come looking at the house. If you do not do this, buyers may reject your house as being untidy and messy.

A lot of people have outdoor features which people are pleased to show. Well maintained lawns, landscaped gardens and tidy pool areas are always a great attraction and you can always show these off to prospective home buyers as a great talking as well as selling point. When you show your home to buyers, do look at removing screens and ensure that you do not have any dark curtains or shades on the windows.

It is also useful to ensure that there is enough natural light in the house, which is something that most people love when looking for their dream home. Decorations that are too large can be a distraction and need to be removed or concealed if possible. Also it makes sense to avoid religious themes which may not be acceptable to the sensibilities of some people.

The sinks and its surroundings must be cleared and leaks must get plugged up. The exterior of the house including the windows should be cleaned and it may help to give the front of the house a fresh coat of paint to make the house look spic and span,

You should respect the privacy of home buyers when they come to look at your house. Your lingering in the house when they come down may not be the best way to start negotiations. So you should make yourself scarce when they are around, and as far as valuables are concerned you can lock them up securely and not have to worry about them.

You also need to spread the word around about your house which is up for sale, which is possible using advertising. The use of pictures and photos is very effective in this case as these have been seen to increase responses quite dramatically. The market is full of so many ads and if you add in keywords like pool or perhaps granite counters or deck, you will be able to garner a lot of attention and add to the efficacy of your ads. This is something that has been proved time and again and even if you cannot afford granite slabs (which are almost a given in most Mason OH homes for sale), you would do well to look at using granite tiles in any case.

Using signs to point your buyers to the home is also important. No matter where your house is located and how prominent it is, potential buyers generally find it tough to locate homes. You can also post directions near intersections and if you are kind of a pioneer, you can also look at talking properties and talking yard signs to go along with it.

You can take the services of experts and professionals who can help you to decorate your home in a very alluring manner. It also helps to have cutouts from magazines of photos of rooms that are quite beautiful and then matching the wall colors with it.

Make Your Child Feel Special

Dinosaur bedding is probably something you never thought you would need in your lifetime. But once you had kids it is just part of a lot of things you never thought you would need. It’s hard turning into your parents, but kids have a way of making that change happen. Your turn as parents is to be the best example you can be as some day your kids will turn into you. What does that have to do with dinosaur bedding? Well keeping kids happy and turning bedtime into an enjoyable time and not a battle can take some sneaky moves from the parents.

Creating an atmosphere that the child is excited to be a part of and finds interesting can help end bedtime struggles—at least for a while. Sometimes these struggles are just bad habits that everyone has fallen into and a dramatic change in scenery and new things to spark the imagination can help get everyone out of the rut and one the smooth road.

Dinosaur bedding and especially dinosaur sheets that a child slips between are fun and can be a game and a distraction so that old battles are forgotten and new habits get started. Dinosaur sheets with realistic dinosaur prints offer the child a chance to get up close and personal with fierce legendary beasts. Time spent learning the different species of dinosaurs and perhaps even naming the favorite ones can make the bed and bedding solely the possession of the child and safe refuge from the rest of the day.

Climbing out of the rut takes a different and unique jolt to get started and dinosaurs are definitely that. Make your child feel special by being the only kid who gets to sleep with dinosaurs and encourage them to learn even more by adding books and figures to make the bedding more than just a place to sleep, but a fun learning station. Dinosaur bedding is something you never thought you would need, but sometimes it’s a good weapon to have in the arsenal.

Emergency Blankets and Other Emergency Supplies

If you are not prepared for a sudden disaster or catastrophe, putting together or purchasing a survival backpack could be the single most important thing you can do for yourself.  Buy one for each member of your family as well.  You can find larger disaster kits that can sustain up to 20 people for 3 days.  72 hours are the most crucial because that is how long it may take for emergency responders to reach you.  No one thinks it will happen to them until it’s too late or unless they have already been in a disaster situation.  Some of the most essential supplies to have are;
Water
Food packages
Flashlights
Matches
Emergency blanket
Radio

Most natural disaster will give you little warning, prior preparation is essential.  Trying to find supplies just before or after disaster hits is the wrong time.  You will find yourself fighting with others over simple essentials, and paying premium prices when you can find the right supplies.

You can put together your own disaster kit or purchase one that is already put together.  Buying a kit is generally both easier and cheaper because many of the disaster supplies (like a 5-in-1 radio or waterproof matches) are hard to find locally, and end up being more expensive than buying a ready made kit.  The best disaster kits are made to be carried easily.  A backpack is ideal, you can keep it in a closet closest to the door, that way it’s always ready for you when it’s time to make a quick evacuation.

Not only are these survival bags good to keep around the house,  you can also keep a “bug out bag” in your car, RV, boat, office, classroom or anywhere else you or your family spend a lot of time.  Some companies even make disaster bags for dogs and cats.  In addition to a developing and sharing a plan with everyone in your household (to include the location of the 72 hour survival bags) having the proper supplies is imperative.
